What Makes Someone Beautiful?

Beauty, to me, has always been an abstract thing. People’s opinions on what is beautiful are constantly changing. Personally, I think everyone is beautiful. I believe everyone has something about them that makes them beautiful. Wanting to understand what makes others beautiful in the eyes of different people, I asked around.

“Their soul.”

Life Question 1

Water, light and my life in Seattle.

I am 16 year old and I live in the Seattle area. I am a sophmore in highschool and I cannot stop thinking about what is next for my life. I don’t know where I am headed but I am doing everything in my power to ensure that the future that will come is the best outcome for my life. I am constantly wondering and trying to find out what is next but that distracts me from the present. I don’t know whether I have any control anyway which is what I am constantly battling with. My connection to people and spirituality I hope will allow for my life and myself to grow in a positive manner without carrying me too far off the track I would be on if I did not care. Before the beautiful butterflies and moths that we know and sometimes love, there were the caterpillars. Caterpillars eat leaves and flowers using their strong jaws. Usually they start eating the tree they hatched on, but caterpillars are picky eaters and will sometimes only eat one kind of leaf for their entire life. Continue reading Caterpillars

Ostriches are the world’s largest bird; they can grow up to 9 feet tall and can weigh up to 320 lbs. Ostriches are flightless birds which means that like penguins they can’t fly, but unlike penguins, they don’t swim, they run. In fact the ostrich can run up to 40 mph.

Male ostriches are the ones with the bold black and white feathers, while the females have light browns feathers. Ostriches are omnivores, which means they eat both vegetation and meat. Although they prefer plants, especially roots, seeds and leaves, they also eat locusts, lizards, snakes and rodents. Continue reading Ostrich

Gender is often a tricky subject for most. Understanding other people’s gender identity as well as your own is very difficult for some people, including myself. Gender identity is a person’s perception of having a particular gender, which may or may not correspond with their birth sex. People can fall anywhere on the spectrum. Some people are transgender, which means they are a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex. Some are cisgender instead. All cisgender really means is that a person’s gender identity matches their assigned gender at birth. Gender expression is the way in which a person expresses their gender identity, typically through their appearance, dress, and behavior. To help individuals who are lacking in understanding how significant gender identity and expression are, I asked some questions to a friend of mine who is genderqueer identifying.
