Are you sure you read the right book? "The Good Earth" was not written to persuade Americans of China's merit; its purpose is quite opposite. The book is a gritty and realistic tale of an impoverished farmer's hard life in an oppressive society, and it demonstrates how wealth corrupts. Many moments of the book are so horrifying that the reader cannot help but be moved.

It's unfortunate how the movement was gradually sunk by carelessness and disorginization. The whole Occupy movement is in retrospect an interesting commentary on the limitless potential of a generation and the limitless apathy that stifles it.

Great review of the movie! :D I love that you dont tell who the actor cameo is because far too many reviews tell you that or people just telling you about the movie.

Looks/sounds epic, but why no armor enhancements? D: Those should be standard issue in the UNSC.

Thank you!
Play as many shows as you possibly can. Play everywhere. Play for free, play garages, play your school, play constantly. Every show you do will help you to do your job better.
One other thing: NEVER do pre-sale tickets, because the people who will make you do that are preying on young bands and taking your money. I forgot to mention that in the interview, but it's vitally important.
Get a rad band going, and we will play shows with you. Make friends with other bands and you can all help each other get shows and make a scene that's worth being a part of. If we can't all get rich: we can make lasting friendships and have a good time.
Take care;

First of all, I think it's great that someone put together an article on their personal opinions on this issue. Right now these conversations are happening all over the school, but I think having some portion of it also happen online is great.
In response to the point about Nova operating independently of the district, there is a very simple reason why that doesn't work: money. We are a very small school and almost our entire budget comes from the district. Along with it comes a lot of stupid rules and pointless paperwork, but without the district as a support structure we would pretty much collapse. The idea of a district just for innovation schools is an interesting one. How wide-reaching would that be? Just within Seattle, or a larger area of influence?
I agree that the credit system is too restricting. For some people, having very specific numeric goals is helpful, but for many it adds unnecessary complications. One of the interesting ideas that has come up as an alternative is the Narrative Transcript system. Narrative Transcripts are in-depth responses written by teachers about students performance, progress, and learning in a class. This idea is also very related to the idea of Nova having an alternative to the district standardized test graduation requirements. If we can come up with a reliable system of proving that students have mastered the subjects - such as a portfolio with selected assignments and teacher responses - we may be able to escape the district's rules about passing standardized tests in order to graduate.
