The Eagles

The eagles are a rock band formed in LA in the early 1970’s. The band members include Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. They’ve won six Grammys, and they have six number one albums. They also won five American Music Awards and have five number one singles as well. Ranking at the 37th spot on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” their award winning album Hotel California is one of the best known albums from the time period. Gender is often a tricky subject for most. Understanding other people’s gender identity as well as your own is very difficult for some people, including myself. Gender identity is a person’s perception of having a particular gender, which may or may not correspond with their birth sex. People can fall anywhere on the spectrum. Some people are transgender, which means they are a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex. Some are cisgender instead. All cisgender really means is that a person’s gender identity matches their assigned gender at birth. Gender expression is the way in which a person expresses their gender identity, typically through their appearance, dress, and behavior. To help individuals who are lacking in understanding how significant gender identity and expression are, I asked some questions to a friend of mine who is genderqueer identifying. “They’re sweet and tall, with brown hair. Funny, goofy, and silly but still unbelievably smart. Kissing them makes my head spin into another universe. So talented, but they don’t see what I see. We see each other once a year, yet they’re the one I always end up falling for. They could hold me and sing to me forever, and that would be the happiest ending I can imagine. How do you Know you Love Someone?

Love has always been a confusing thing for me, as well as for many others. People say “I love you” when they don’t. And then there are some who know they do, but wouldn’t dare say it. Love is so sought after by so many people, but how do you know when you find it? There’s not really a universal definition that applies to everyone, so I thought maybe hearing other people’s opinions on love might help both myself and others understand it better.
