Review of Lemmings

Lemmings is one of my personal favorites. Originally released in 1991 by DMA design, for the computer. Lemmings is a puzzle game that involves a group of lemmings, walking in one direction, towards cliffs, smashing things, and water, which all kill them, the lemmings. Now that sounds pretty easy, but the problem is that you have to save a certain number of them,  and to do this you must assign different jobs to certain lemmings to navigate a safe rout through the map as to allow all the other lemmings safe passage. The jobs include climbing, which is only good to prevent other lemmings from falling, an umbrella that lets the lemming fall from a great height without dieing, did I mention that that also kills the lemmings? Stopper-ers? They stop other lemmings from committing suicide, stair builders, they build stairs in one direction, this is mostly used for crossing water. Digging sideways, digging down, digging diagonally down in one direction, exploding, which explodes one lemming and giving up which involves the explosion of all the lemmings, which in itself is gratifying after you’ve figured out you’ve lost.

The Levels. There are a lot of levels. In the original lemmings game, the 1991 release, there were 4 categories consisting of 10 levels each. That equals 40 levels, which doesn’t seem like much, but it gets fun when you can’t get past level three.

Lemmings, to my enjoyment, was re-released in 2006 by DMA in better definition for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 and in 2007 was released for the PlayStation 3. I bought it and still can’t beat all of the levels, there are a LOT of levels. That include the original 4 categories from 1991, and 4 new, original categories. game on your computer, not a school computer, at: http://www.elizium.nu/scripts/lemmings/Revie
